Uniworld Cruises is adding two ships to its European river fleet—at least for the next three years—as it leases two super-luxury ships originally built for Crystal river cruises before that company’s collapse in 2021.
Uniworld, already known as a luxury operator, will rename the ships SS Victoria and SS Elizabeth, matching its other ‘super-ship’ names. They were originally Crystal Mahler and Crystal Bach, built in 2017. Uniworld is leasing the ships from another operator, Riverside, which acquired all five Crystal ships and will still operate three.
SS Victoria will debut in March, sailing Tulip Time cruises from Amsterdam and then switching to Rhine cruises from Amsterdam to Basel. Elizabeth will start service in 2025, with itineraries to be announced.
