A most pleasant surprise during my latest visit to Boise was exploring Freak Alley Gallery. It’s an outdoor display of dozens of murals crafted by many local street artists. Their style, colors and themes were captivating and often provocative.
Freak Alley Gallery is the largest open-air art display in the northwest. It began more than 20 years ago when the first mural was created by Colby Akers over the alley doorway to Moon’s Cafe. Over the years many murals and artworks have been added and the art now extends over many walls and down connected alleys. The gallery is every changing, with new art added ever year.
Freak Alley Gallery is located in Downtown Boise, between 8th and 9th street and Bannock and Idaho. There is, of course, no admission fee.
