We leave by 8 a.m. before we visit Mount Rainier National Park, prepared to drive 2.5 hours from our hotel in Edmonds, Washington.
Our host drives us through Seattle, braving the frenetic morning traffic. We settle into peaceful conversation once we go through the countryside, green, cheerful, and charming.
The forest on either side of the highway gets denser as we approach the park entrance, and the light around us grows moody as we drive up to the Sunrise Entrance; our ears pop, and the clouds part for the sunshine that has been elusive our first three days visiting the Pacific Northwest.
And it’s just in time, because what a view!
WOW! Your photos are gorgeous! You really captured the beauty.
It is an amazingly beautiful peak, as lovely from the air as from the ground! As tranquil as your photos show it to be, it is still considered an active volcano that could erupt at any time.
