The charming city center of Bainbridge Island is a delight. Confectionery shops, gift shops, and hip restaurants make a stroll downtown a joy on a sunny afternoon in August. We visit a chocolatier and purchase treats as we make our way to the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, which showcases local art from the Puget Sound region.
After a delicious lunch at the Cafe Hitchcock, we head back to our car and notice the banner hanging across the road, indicating a summertime “Founders Tournament.” Only then do we see them: pickleball rackets everywhere! On tee shirts, merchandise, and even on their banner!
After a quick internet search, we learn that Bainbridge Island is where the game was invented in 1965.
Bainbridge Island City gave us a day of delight and discovery!
