I am excited for this day to come. Aboard the Viking Freyja sailing along the Middle Rhine River in Germany, passengers are promised a morning of castle sightings.
It was chilly this October morning, and fog hung low over the shoreline. But soon after the castles started coming into view, the fog started to lift.
As we passed the castles, the cruise director narrated information about each site. Along with the medieval castles, there are also picturesque towns and vineyards.
