In figures for 2023, France has once again kept its crown as the most-visited country in the world, according to the UN World Tourism Organization and the World Travel & Tourism Council, with foreign visitor numbers hitting 99% of the record 2019 level.
France has held the title continually since 2014 except for a gap at the height of the pandemic. Italy, number 5 on the list, is also back to 2019 numbers. Of the top ten on the list, seven are in Europe, two in the Americas and one straddles the line between Europe and Asia. In order, they are:
