Trapped 15 Hours in Ski Gondola

A woman reported missing by friends after an afternoon of snowboarding at Lake Tahoe was found safe the following morning, trapped in a ski lift gondola that she was riding back to the lodge where she was staying.

The snowboarder had boarded the lift at 5 pm Saturday, expecting to be returned to the base station, but it stopped before her car reached the bottom. After spending 15 hours rubbing her hands and feet together to avoid freezing in the 23 degree weather, she was found when the lift resumed operation the following morning and brought her down. She refused hospital treatment and apparently suffered no major ill effects.

She told reporters that “I felt very frustrated.” She did not have her cellphone with her, and could not get anyone to hear her yelling for help. “I screamed desperately until I lost my voice,” she said.

An absolute nightmare! Hope she received compensation – and not just a free pass for another ride.
