Here’s a portfolio of color from the colorful Bourda outdoor market in Georgetown, Guyana, with a wide variety of local and regional produce on offer as well as staples.
One of the joys of traveling is visiting local markets, whether they are huge indoor spaces or informal roadside stands, and the joy is even greater when visiting a place that has both familiar produce and new things to see.
The vibrant, varied and often intense colors of the piles and bins of produce is one of my favorite aspects of market visiting, and that’s driven my selection of images for today.
The Bourda market stands between the big spaces such as the city’s huge Stabroek Market and informal stands. It stretches for blocks and is a daily shopping experience for many local customers.
