We spotted these three river otters sitting on a pier in Gold Beach, where the Rogue River flows into the Pacific Ocean. At first, I wasn’t certain whether they were river otters or sea otters as river otters can go to the sea and vice versa for sea otters, but I think they are river otters.
Compared to sea otters, river otters are a little smaller, have a thinner, sleeker build, a long tail, and lack webbing between their toes.
What is not in dispute is that they are very adorable!
