A short walk from the red-bricked main street in downtown Nacogdoches, Texas, is The Jones House, a charming blue Victorian house that serves as a B&B to people wanting to enjoy old-fashioned charm. My husband, Matt, and I are avid tea drinkers. We sat down for the afternoon tea service at Pemberley’s at The Jones House for a Valentine’s Day treat.
After being seated in an elegant room with linen-topped tables, we were served champagne and allowed to chat quietly. Our waitress soon brought a three-tiered serving stand with plates that matched the china at our table (each table had its own pattern). We feasted on tiny sandwiches, fresh scones with clotted cream, and various dainty desserts. And the tea! I opted for Earl Gray with jasmine; Matt chose the salon blend.
After chatting with an adjacent table (some ladies on a girls’ trip), we strolled out into the late afternoon, happy and tea-filled.
