Like many of you, my preferred seat when flying (especially for shorter flights) is a window seat. Main reason is that you have the opportunity to enjoy the scenery — assuming decent weather, clear enough skies, etc.
Recently I flew across Washington state on a clear sunny day just after a January snowstorm. The flight started in Spokane in the east and ending at SeaTac airport in the west. It’s not a long flight, but passes over the Columbia River, the Cascade mountains (including several glacier-capped volcanoes), Puget Sound and downtown Seattle. That’s a lot of interesting places to see in a short period of time.
While taking photos through a plane window is far from ideal, here’s some of what I saw on this flight:
Downtown Spokane (to the right)…
The Spokane River and the Palouse…
The Columbia River….
The Cascade Mountains…
A nice view of Glacier Peak (10,525 ft/3207 m), considered one of the most active volcanoes in the country….
Downtown Seattle and Puget Sound….
Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park….
Seattle’s Harbor….
And on landing at SeaTac airport, a nice view of Mt. Rainier….
Terrific scenery!
