James River, Scottsville, Virginia
Scottsville is a small town located in central Virginia along the James River. The townhas a history of flooding from the river, but has recently undergone a wonderful renovation.
If you are into water sports, this is a nice relaxing location. There is funand good food in this small town. The big entertainment is focused on rafting, tubing and canoeing on the James River.You can rent all the water devices at the James River Reeling & RaftingCompanyor just stroll along the riverside parks.There is not much white-water action, but just cool water fun with family on a hot summer’s day.
Also in town is a small museum,afood/drink and entertainment spot at the James River Brewery, and you can have a delicious meal at the James River Tavern which is one of my favorite places.
Saturdays, April to November the Farmer’s Market Pavilion (located near the Tavern) has a wide variety of fresh local produce and crafts.
