A jet charter company has teamed up with a dog toy-and-treat maker to provide flights meant to be ‘going to the dogs,’ with human passengers traveling as their companions.
BARK, the dog company that sells BarkBox subscriptions, is teamed with the charter operator to offer a “white glove experience typical of a human’s first-class experience and redirected all that pampering to pooches.”
The service comes with a price to match: the two routes planned so far, from New York’s Westchester County Airport to London Stansted and Los Angeles’s Van Nuys are $8000 and $6000 respectively, for one-way. Humans fly free with the dog.
At that price, the amenities are substantial: No TSA, a concierge to ensure the dogs are socializing and adjusting to the environment (and each other) well, and access to “calming pheromones, music, and colors that pups prefer.” As well, there are noise-canceling ear muffs, calming jackets and beverages. For the humans, there’s also a chef-prepared meal.
