Spring visits to any botanical garden are special; summer can be exciting and there’s much to see as the weather goes dark in fall and winter, but there’s nothing quite like colors pushing themselves forward as the weather warms.
An early April walk through my ‘backyard,’ the Brooklyn Botanic Garden was a chance to see the early blooming of some of its magnificent magnolias, as well as beds of hothouse tulips set out in banks, including in spaces that will be occupied later in the year by other plantings.
Of course, there’s more on hand than the magnolias and tulips… and promises of even more over the next weeks.
