Well, not quite, but you might be fooled if you receive mail with the French postal services’ latest stamp, featuring images of a baguette and the smell of fresh baking.
The scratch-and-sniff stamp, printed with special inks was unveiled Thursday, the day of Saint-Honore, the patron saint of bakers and pastry chefs. La Poste says “The baguette, the bread of our daily lives, the symbol of our gastronomy, the jewel of our culture. The baguette transcends frontiers to become an international icon.”
Ironically, while the baguette may, by law, contain only water, flour, yeast and salt with no artificial or extra ingredients, the stamp’s smell is 100% artificial.
