Key West is a beautiful island and a charming community. The vibe I got when I visited was that it was a “hippy town” — Jimmy Buffet, Margaritaville and all that. There is a Naval Station on the island, but I really wasn’t expecting the community to be patriotic.
Boy was that impression wrong. Not only are the military honored at many businesses in town, but the community also has an impressive Veterans Memorial Park. It’s a beautifully constructed memorial that honors the country’s veterans.
The garden opened in 2015 and given that today is Memorial Day in the USA, I thought it would be a nice way to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice….
