Amazon’s Alexa and Viator, TripAdvisor’s tour and experience marketplace, are teaming up to offer local tours and other experiences directly to travelers in their hotel rooms, using Amazon Echo Show devices.
The plan may give Amazon’s devices a boost in getting placed in more hotel rooms, much as Apple docks have done in the past. The Show devices have a tablet-like screen that can display all kinds of content and incorporate the Alexa virtual assistant.
Viator, which lists over 300,000 tours, services and experiences world-wide, will be able to display local offerings. Using intuitive voice and touch interactions, guests can explore activities from the comfort of their rooms and easily book them using a QR code on their in-room device screen
