A new hotel in Colorado Springs opening this fall has one of the most unusual amenities anywhere: three flight simulators available to guests.
Perhaps that’s less surprising when you consider that the Hotel Polaris is on the campus of the Air force Academy, but the simulators, two for the F-16 fighter and one for a Boeing 737 Max, aren’t limited to present pilots.
“The simulators are designed to provide the curious all the way up to the aviation enthusiast an immersive pilot experience,” general manager Curtis Bova said. “This level of technology allows them to feel as if they are soaring through the air.”
The F-16 simulators are linked so that two users can fly a mission together or against each other. The 737 simulator has a pilot’s vantage point with a 200-degree field of view curved, seamless screen. Guests will be able to take off or land at any domestic, commercial airport and landing at another commercial airport.
Rates have not yet been set for time in the simulators, but will be based on time. Sadly, ‘pilots’ in the simulators will not be earning frequent flyer points.
