Desert View Watchtower, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.
Jonathon, your post made me wonder about the cost of using the locks. Surprise, it’s free and includes the help of lock tenders. Which makes me wonder why there are so few taking advantage of it.https://eriecanalway.org/explore/boating
Well, first, you have to be able to afford a boat, and to be in the general area of upstate NY. Then you have to want to cruise the canal. While the locks are free, the is a charge for use of the canal, not huge but up to $100 for the season, based on the size of the boat. There are also overnight docking fees, which, again, are not huge, but they exist.
