There’s a new attraction in Washington, DC, designed to make ‘visiting the White House’ an easier experience for thousands of visitors who pass up on the complicated process of getting a ticket to visit the actual ‘People’s House.’
And, in fact, that’s the name of the new exhibit: The People’s House: A White House Experience. Created by the White House Historical Association in a building catty-cornered from the actual White House, it features a 1:5 replica of the familiar facade and a full-size replica of the Oval Office, where visitors can have their pictures taken behind the President’s desk.
To avoid political issues, the Association says, the Oval Office will mirror the art and furnishings of whoever is President at the time; right now it is the Biden office. Another exhibit contains doll-house sized replicas of numbers of other rooms, and a large room that uses immersive projection technology to change from one White House room to another every five minutes.
Admission to the People’s House, at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue, is free.
