Pet-friendly cruise to welcome 250 dogs

Pet dogs usually aren’t allowed on cruise ships, but one cruise next year will welcome 250 of them, with their owners, next year.

Billed as the ‘First ever pet dog friendly cruise,’ the cruise is a joint project of a company called Cruise Tails and Expedia Cruises, and will sail next November from Tampa aboard Margarita at Sea’s new ship Islander. On board, the schedule will include dog shows, trainings, costume contests and parades.

“Guests may participate in many onboard special activities with or without their dog, and a full support team will be available to ensure it’s easy-breezy sailing for everyone,” the company’s press release says. “While vacationing with their pet, guests can book with dog groomers, enjoy puppy massages, visit dog-friendly splash stations, and more.”

Each cabin’s balcony will have a pet relief station, and a Pet Butler will be available to assist families.

Registration for the cruise will begin next month; owners will be required to make sure their pets have up-to-date vaccinations.
