Arches National Park, Utah. Where Gumbo was #33

Puddles of rainwater, Arches National Park

Gumbo was enjoying the unparalleled beauty of the American Southwest.   Without having been there when the photo was taken, I would not have guessed it was taken in Arches National Park, at least not without having tried a dozen other places first.

But that did not stop travel sleuth Andre Pur from nailing the photo as originating in “Arches National Park”.  Congratulations  Andre!  Excellent suggestions came from PortMoresby (Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley).  Jonathan L also suggested Monument Valley, and I think Monument Valley would have topped my list of possibilities, too.

Park Avenue at Dusk, Arches National Park (Park Avenue, Arches National Park)

Beautiful Arches National Park is best know for it’s 2000+ natural arches.  But there’s a lot of beautiful rock formations in the park.   While I love the arches, I also enjoy these other places, especially “Park Avenue” at dusk when the setting sun really brings out the fiery red color of the rock.  The photo highlighted above in this WITW was taken near Park Avenue (Courthouse Towers Viewpoint) right after a thunderstorm blew through, leaving these puddles of water which very quickly disappeared into the dry rock and soil!

Also near where the highlighted photo was taken you’ll see:

and famous North and South Windows….

The View North

I was visiting a friend, and this was the view from their house. I could understand why they built their house facing this direction. I was taken by the beauty!
