The best views of Rome are to be found atop the Victor Emmanuel monument, a massive white marble structure some Romans disparagingly call the “Wedding Cake” or the “Typewriter”. Be that as it may, there’s a great travel gem here. For a fee you take an elevator to the top of the monument to see the vistas, an attraction known as “Rome from the Sky”. Here’s just one of the amazing views from Rome in the Sky, including the Colosseum and part of the forum.
..and it’s a view that’s worth the effort..!
Agreed.
Interestingly, Roma did not leave me with a good impression during our first visit in 1980. However, after returning many times, it becomes a more meaningful place for me to enjoy. Now, we take pleasure in just walking the streets, stopping when we decide to linger, and generally hanging out in its diverse neighborhoods.
During our trip in May we found some new restaurants, walked familiar neighborhoods from different directions, and discovered new gelatorie to continue our unscientific research.
