Good King Wenceslas, he of Christmas carol fame, is a popular figure in Czech history. Apparently the tale of his struggling through deep snow in the 10th century to give presents to peasants is true. He is a revered Bohemian martyr and saint.
There’s a number of pieces of Wenceslas art in Prague, the most irreverant we encountered being this one. Situated in a small shopping mall off Wenceslas Square, we have the Good King sitting on the belly a dead horse seemingly wondering when the mount would start galloping again. The piece is suspended from the ceiling and its quirky playfulness appealed to me.
