Today I take you back close to my home at Weymouth in the county of Dorset on the south coast of England. The 155 miles of coast surrounding Weymouth is a World Heritage site called the ‘Jurassic Coast’ whose cliffs display endless evidence of the fossils of the Jurassic period of 180 million years ago.
A lovely feature on this coast is ‘Durdle Door’ which is a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in Dorset, England. The name ‘Durdle’ is derived from the Old English ‘thirl’ meaning bore or drill. It is privately owned by the Welds family who own 12,000 acres (50 km2) in Dorset in the name of the Lulworth Estate.
On the horizon you can see the isle of Portland upon which is the famous lighthouse ‘Portland Bill’.
Almost like nature grooming itself and then saying, “I’m ready for my close-up, Mac!”
That’s a beautifully composed photo.
And with the sun in front of you too !
An advantage of a modern quality camera.
It lets us stray from the “Golden Rules” of photography.
I hope you’ve got this one in a frame somewhere.
Pure quality.
