Hello Kitty has friends all over the world, and she’s extremely popular in China. Which explains why Kitty-creator Sanrio of Japan went in on a theme park in China, partnered with a California entertainment design firm.
The park actually opened last November, but only about 2/3 of its attractions were ready; now it’s had an official grand opening with everything up and running, including a big Ferris wheel, other rides, a castle-hotel with 343 rooms and character performances.
The park operators expect about a million visitors a year, and don’t expect that to be harmed by Chinese fans realizing in the last year that Hello Kitty is meant to be a little girl, not a cat. Wow…news to me, too! For more, from Asia Times, click HERE
