Gumbo’s Pic of the Day, August 3, 2015: Wildflowers

Wildflowers, Yoho National Park, British Columbia

It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere and flowers are blooming everywhere.  No where is the profusion of blossoms greater than where Mother Nature planted them.  And in a great assortment of size, shape and colors.

One of the things I enjoy about visiting alpine meadows is that, while the season is very short at high altitude, things grow with intensity.  There are millions of wildflowers blooming in the mountains.  You just need to get up there and enjoy them.

Today’s photos were taken in Yoho National Park in British Colombia, specifically along the Whaleback trail (nothing to do with whales — named after a hill that resembled a whale to someone).
