Good news for cruise lovers! Regent Seven Seas Cruises will be adding free unlimited WiFi access for every passenger. The company announced that its fleet would be offering this service starting late 2016. Currently only Regent passengers in top tier accommodations get free unlimited WiFi (others get from 200 – 500 minutes free online time per cruise).
Regent’s announcement comes a half year after newbie Viking Ocean Cruises said it would not “nickle and dime” its customers and promised free WiFi for all passengers.
The trend towards free wifi is spreading to other cruise lines, currently mostly upscale companies — including Silversea, Crystal and Oceania — although currently only to top tier passengers (others get free limited time).
For years on-board internet access had been quite expensive, up to $1.00 a minute. So this is welcome news for cruising consumers!
