Traditional architecture in the Canaries ranges from grand stately homes to smaller, more humble dwellings. It finds its roots in Andalusia and Portugal, but above all has its own strong character.
The most significant features of Tenerife’s stately homes are their typical balconies and inner patios. Both features are essentially made of wood, usually the Island’s typical tea pine wood, which is often painstakingly decorated by craftsmen.
Photos were taken during a stroll around the Old Town of Puerto De La Cruz in Tenerife.
