Congratulations, in the order of of correct guesses, goes to PortMoresby, Jonathan L and George G for correctly identifing that Gumbo was at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, Ca.
Griffith Observatory is a Art Deco masterpiece that houses an observatory with space and science exhibitions and a great planetarium. It has free admission but it does charge for the planetarium shows.
The views of Hollywood, the Hollywood sign , Downtown LA and the Pacific Ocean have made this place one of LA’s most iconic locations.
History:
Griffith J Griffith left 3,015 acres to the City of Los Angeles and donated funds to build an observatory. Griffith Observatory was opened to the public in 1935. Griffith’s goal was to make astronomy accessible to the public ,and with his donation, he succeeded in doing that.
Griffith Observatory has been and continues to be featured on many TV shows and movies, from Rebel without a Cause to LA LA Land.
Because of Griffith Observatory high profile, finding a close up parking space can be difficult on weekends and holidays. There are buses or you can hike a mile up the hill if you choose to visit during those busy times.
An amazingly clear day when you visited. Many days you can’t see more than a few miles because of LA’s infamous smog.
