Tafraoute is a small Berber city located among the Anti-Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco. It’s a lightly touristed city visited mostly by people seeking outdoor adventures, especially rock climbers.
Our visit to Tafraoute coincided with the community’s weekly market day. Local farmers and merchants gathered in the town center to sell their goods. Most were located in tents along the streets, but there was also a crowded market building being used. The market had a large assortment of produce and other goods and was very busy. The produce was of excellent quality.
Here is some of what we saw during our visit to the market:
Besides fresh fruits and vegetables, there were large displays of nuts and spices….
The chicken at the market was very fresh….
Bread was mostly sold out by the time we explored. Moroccan bread is excellent…..
There were assorted non-edible goods like blankets, clothes and hardware.
I love visiting markets and this one was a good one!
