If you’re tired of cattle class, and not impressed with the latest first-class offers, you could travel like a king—if you can come up with the money to buy the Lockheed Jetstar once owned by Elvis, who designed the interior himself.
It’s on auction Saturday, along with over 300 other items of celebrity memorabilia from Elvis and others. The plane is expected to go for $2-3.5 million.
The 1962 jet, one of three the singer owned, has been a tourist attraction on a runway in Roswell, NM for the past 35 years. Elvis’s other two jets belong to the Graceland Foundation, his former estate.
The plane has red velvet seats, red shag carpets and even a toilet with white velvet seat. But, buyers should note that while all equipment is original and in great shape, there are no engines. Some assembly required!
