TAP paints a plane to push free stopovers

TAP Air Portugal really wants you to know that you’re welcome to stop over in Portugal for free—so much that they’ve painted the offer on the outside of one of their A330s.

The program, launched a year ago, allows customers transferring in Lisbon or Porto to take a 3-day break between the flights for no additional airfare. Starting in September, the stay will be extended up to 5 days. So far, the airline says, nearly 70,000 have taken advantage.

“We kept hearing that three days wasn’t enough to truly experience Lisbon or Porto,” Carlos Paneiro, TAP’s VP of Sales for North and Central America, said in a statement. “Now with five days, visitors can enjoy a more leisurely visit to really get to know what these wonderful cities have to offer.”
