Gumbo was visiting Mother Teresa House in the city of Skopje. Congratulations to George G and PortMoresby who solved this week’s travel puzzle.
Mother Teresa was born in Skopje. She grew up in this city before joining and taking her vows within the Catholic order. She spent her life devoted to helping others, highlighted by meetings with many heads of state over the years, culminating in her receiving the Nobel Peace Prize (1979).
This home was constructed to commemorate her work and devotion and attempt to instill it in others. She was beatified by the Pope several years after she died (2003), with a church and streets named after her already (including in Pristina, Kosovo and here in Skopje, Macedonia).
