The Elysée Palace, official residence of France’s presidents, is going into the souvenir business, in a bid to raise funds for renovation.
It’s already registered a number of copyrights, including “Elysée – Présidence de la République” and is looking for a licensing partner to make the plan work.
It will be in competition with a shop run by the National Assembly that sells tri-color umbrellas, notebooks and tags. And, as noted elsewhere on this page, the idea is not unique. In London, there’s a large giftshop at Buckingham Palace.
