Chinese travelers continue to explore the world in record numbers, with an official estimate of 71.3 million Chinese tourists traveling abroad in the first six months of 2018.
That’s a rise of 15% over the previous year, according to the China Tourism Academy, also using data from CTrip, a major travel provider. The travelers went from 200 Chinese cities to over 130 countries abroad.
While Europeans continue to see a rise in travel from China, all the most popular destinations are closer to home. Thailand remains the hottest destination for Chinese tourists, followed by Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Russia.
