Airlines warn stags and hens: ‘Behave!’

The aviation and travel industries are warning partying flyers, especially British ‘hen’ and ‘stag’ parties to mind their behavior in the air, with the threat that ‘anti-social behavior’ could put them off the plane and facing sizable fines.

While there’s always the occasional drunken passenger, according to the government and industry-backed campaign One Too Many, more than two-thirds of in-air incidents involve groups, most often taking advantage of cheap end-of-season flights to warmer places such as Ibiza, Marbella and Zante.

Passengers who are drunk and disorderly on a plane can be fined up to £5,000 and also face jail terms. If the plane is forced to land, they could also be fined up to £80,000 to cover the costs of the disruption and re-routing.
