Travel industry experts believe that China will pass France by 2030 to become the most-visited nation on earth.
In a report last week at a travel industry conference in London, Euromonitor research group predicted the shift, based in part on more and more people in Asia in general, and China in particular, able to afford foreign travel and to spend more on it.
Also, they said, visiting from outside Asia is likely to increase as visa restrictions for China are eased, and as Japan and China prepare for and publicize the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. China has made major investments in recent years in infrastructure to support tourism.
