Vancouver International Airport, Canada’s big gate to the Pacific, and a frequent nominee in best-airport lists, is not only getting more flights headed west to Asia, but is adding new routes to Europe as well.
WOW, the Icelandic discount carrier, will arrive in June with six weekly flights to Rekyjavik at rates starting at $129 each way. The flights, using Airbus A321s, will connect in Iceland to WOW’s routes to India and Israel as well as the rest of Europe. Passengers will also be able to schedule in a free stopover in Iceland.
Air Canada, meanwhile, is adding new 787 service on a number of existing routes. Service to Melbourne, year-round, will grow to four times a week, and flights to Osaka will grow to five a week for the summer season. Seasonal service to Zurich will be bumped up to five a week for summer.
Earlier this year, Air Canada announced new year-round service to Sacramento from Vancouver, and seasonal service to Paris. This December, it will begin a winter schedule to Lihue, Hawaii.
