Caesar’s, known as a gambler’s mecca as well as a top hotel in Las Vegas and elsewhere is now in a deal to open an Arizona hotel based on a mall instead of a casino.
The new hotel will face Scottsdale’s Fashion Square Mall, and will be owned by Macerich, the mall’s developer, and operated under license by another company under license from Caesar’s. Of course, Caesar’s is no stranger to malls; its Las Vegas flagship is home to a huge upscale retail area.
Construction on the hotel, to be called Caesar’s Republic Scottsdale, is set to begin this year, with the hotel opening in 2021. Caesar’s says it’s just the first Caesar’s Republic, which will be looking for other non-gaming sites.
