Tokyo may have its cat cafes that allow humans to be entertained or comforted by resident cats, but California’s gone one better: a luxury hotel that’s just for the feline trade.
Club Cat, in Orange County, is aimed at people who aren’t happy with traditional boarding options when they travel; the owner, Shana Martin was one such herself. She says “Cats don’t necessarily require the level of care that dogs do, but recent studies show that they prefer human interaction and actually need it to thrive.”
Each suite has 8-foot ceilings, beds, whimsical cat images and walls; there are no caged areas. Rooms range in size from singles to rooms that can house up to three cats from the same family. There are multiple levels to perch on, and enclosed balconies.
But for those who are still worried about their pets’ health, each suite also has a state-of-the-art webcam so that, as Martin says, “cat parents can get their kitty cat fix in real-time.” And maybe they’ll even be able to post even more cat videos on the web…
