Airbnb and the Louvre have teamed up for a publicity-rich stunt to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the museum’s iconic pyramid entrance pavilion, offering a lucky couple the chance to sleep over with the world’s most famous painting.
In a contest that closes at midnight Friday, hopeful guests will submit their answer to the question “Why am I Mona Lisa’s ideal guest?” on Airbnb’s site. Judges will pick the most romantic answer and the winner, plus a guest, will sleep over on April 30.
And it’s more than just a sleepover. Once the museum closes, a private guide will give a tour of the masterpieces, followed by a aperitif in front of the Mona Lisa. Then an intimate dinner set at the feet of the Venus de Milo, a private folk pop concert in Napoleon III’s bedroom, and off to sleep in a bedroom set up in the pyramid itself. In the morning, breakfast, and more time in the museum, which will be closed for May 1.
And oh: the prize includes round-trip air from wherever you are, and a couple of extra days at a luxury hotel.
