Barely a week after Emirates Airways announced its ‘special’ business class that gives a discount but withholds amenities, Lufthansa has found a way to add some revenue for perks in its business class.
But the German airline says it’s not the same thing. While Emirates is cutting lounge access, chauffeurs and seat selection from the product, Lufthansa insists they are offering the same product as before, with the opportunity to shell out a bit more for extras.
A Lufthansa spokesman insisted “It’s not unbundling, it’s upgrading.” The extras include larger desks, larger beds, more privacy and the better seats in the business class section.
Where will it end? We now have, across various airlines, so many classes it’s hard to keep track. First is still first, so far. Business is now becoming two classes, and cattle class has already been split into Basic Economy, Economy and Premium Economy.
