In a shining example of cooperation, Amsterdam (too many tourists) is sharing its tourism promotion with The Hague (not enough tourists) for the next few weeks.
The iAmsterdam store and information center at Amsterdam’s Centraal station has been temporarily transformed into a welcome center for the Hague, with green carpets, sign, photos of the smiling royal family and lots of tourism information.
The Hague is the capital of the Netherlands, a 45-minute train ride away on the seaside. It has many palaces, museums, restaurants and beaches, but Amsterdam has 13 times more visitors.
On the first day of the promotion, visitors were offered fifty free round-trip tickets to the Hague; the first to turn up, an American artist, also got a guided tour of the capital in a horse-drawn golden carriage.
