With a climate similar to its nearest neighbour, Florida, Cuba enjoys an all year Vacation status. In the Winter months it becomes a hideaway for millions of Canadians. And a few thousand from Europe.
During the Summer months many Hotels are near empty. Often 40 guests in a resort for 1200 people. On hot summer afternoons when the mercury hits 100F and beyond, you can smell the sun block. So why do I go in the summer? It’s half price so I can go twice a year.
After an early breakfast and 4 Cuban Coffees I walk down to the Beach. 2 minutes away. It’s 8am and I enjoy a perfect Summers day of 80f and rising. Until 11am when the sunshine becomes hot, too hot… Just 3 hours of this long empty beach is a good start to any day. Blue waters with the fish eating bread from my hands. And a long walk along the sea’s edge. Getting the best shells the tide has swept up. Paradise found.
