It’s seventy years since Disney’s Cinderella hit the big screens and almost fifty years since Disney World opened with her towered and crenelated castle as its centerpoint, so Disney has decided its time to redecorate.
The iconic castle, which also appears in the title sequences of all Disney movies, will get a new color scheme, with pink, royal blue and gold trims. The 189-foot tall building is actually a fiberglass shell over a framework.
If you have a taste for Disney, you’ll want to be there. If you have a taste for unparodiable Disney hyperbole, here’s the sample that comes with the announcement from Jason Kirk, Vice President of Magic Kingdom: “Cinderella first transformed into a princess 70 years ago this week when the animated classic was released — and ever since, her courage and kindness have been inspiring guests and cast members alike. We are excited to share that her story has inspired a bold, shimmering and royal makeover of her namesake castle at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort.”
