A major Russian airline that’s a OneWorld member is offering free loyalty points to its members who certify they’re staying home and not flying. S7 will give 100 points a day for 30 days.
While you might not be planning on flying S7, the points can be used later to get discounts on flights flown by American, British Air, or Qantas. To get the points, you have to join the S7 Priority program, and click the “I’m Home” button once a day.
In the other direction, Vietnamese airline Vietjet is trying to lure travelers back on board with a “Sky Covid Care” insurance plan that promises to pay about $9000 to any passenger who flies a domestic flight between March 23 and June 30 and then comes down with Covid-19. That doesn’t sound so much like insurance as it does like skydiving without a parachute.
