Stockholm’s popular Skansen park and outdoor museum, which includes its zoo, has hopes that a troop of cute new bear cubs will draw visitors and boost finances as restrictions begin to lift.
The five roly-poly baby bears had their first session in the sun last week, with plenty of publicity. The park is large enough to support significant number of people, even with social distancing, but has seen its weekend totals drop from well over 20,000 to less than 6,000. Sweden is among the countries making first moves toward lifting some restrictions.
So far, the babies don’t have names, but do have initials: the zoo makes a habit of naming its newcomers with names taken in alphabetical order. Since the last litter’s naming used up Z, these babies will get names beginning with Å, Ä, Ö, A and B.
