Greeting you when you enter the village of Uniontown, Washington is a cow sculpture, which we stopped to study. It was created by John Bergen in 2013, crafted from old agricultural equipment. The piece was funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.
A contest was held to select a name for a cow and ‘Wheeletta’ won; the surname ‘Wholesteele’ was subsequently tagged on. A cat was later added to the sculpture, named ‘Dahmen Doodles’. I thought it an interesting piece of art.
From Wheeletta Wholesteele you get nice views of the palouse….
And a nearby grain elevator, a hybrid of old and new components….
