Survivior story: Otter and Orca

Life in Alaska can be full of adventure for visitors, and also for the natives—in this case a sea otter being invited to dinner by a killer whale. Or rather, invited to BE dinner by a killer whale.

A guide working for a water taxi service in Halibut Cove, Alaska, spotted the otter swimming rapidly away from the orca and began to video it with his phone as the action developed.

As the orca circled the boat, the terrified otter eventually managed to leap onto the boat’s transom. After looking around, it eventually returned to the water, only to change its mind and return to the boat. The otter stayed aboard to the boat’s next pickup point, with the otter turning its attention to other prey.
